Bamyan as Creative City


Bamyan people celebrated for accepting of Bamyan as creative city by UNESCO, Bamyan nominated itself in January 2015 to UNESCO to be creative city and in Dec 2015 accepted as creative city by UNESCO, 46 other cities from 33 countries also accepted as creative city by UNESCO about gastronomy, folk art, crafts… and Bamyan accepted for folk arts and crafts.

 People of Bamyan celebrated accepting of Bamyan as creative city with speech and local music and appreciated from UNESCO to choose Bamyan as creative city.

Folk art is also decreasing from Bamyan because ministry of Information and Culture does not attention to save folk art and replaced to foreign cultures which come with film, music and programs from foreign countries.

In far and deprived places also exist folk art like death ceremony, wedding ceremony special dance, play and customs.

Crafts are also in Bamyan because its residents are busy in animal husbandry specially women live with crafts from childhood up to death and fulfill the need of family and sell to foreign market.

It is an opportunity for Bamyan people to develop folk arts and crafts and show them to the world.
